Today, the student "tried" me again. I guess he didn't get the hint from our last conversation.
A student was trying to hug me. Now normally, you would think...why not hug them? Well, I'm not to fond of hugging on 18 year olds...especially those that tend to be flirtacious. So I made a motion with my hand to block the student's hug. As I did this, ol' last word fellow pipes up and says, "that's disrespectful".
Ugh! The gall on that one!
1. Who are you to tell an adult that they are being disrespectful? Especially when the situation didn't even concern you?
2. Isn't what your doing disrespectful? Hmmm...pot calling the kettle black.
So, I had to remind him of our previous conversation. That his opinions on my teaching or my choices are none of his business. Then he said that he didn't "pick that up" from our last conversation. I responded...well then maybe you can "pick up" what I say in a referral.
Boom! Last Word! I'm getting better at this! Normally, it would take me until next Tues. to think of something to say. I am working on my wit!
Side topic: I also had a parent tell me today not to call her before school starts because she is asleep. Why aren't you up seeing your son off to school? Hmm....Apparently, she doesn't know that school starts at 7:30 a.m.. So when she sends a note with her student for me to give her a call, and her son gives it to me at 7:35, and I immediately call her...I guess I don't see the problem.
I really think I could write a book on the need for increase in pay for teachers! :)
