Penn State Vs. Bama

Roll Tide Roll!

We had a grand ol' time back in Tuscaloosa for the UA vs. Penn St. game!  The weather was scorching, but we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless.  The Taylor's and The Haynie's (our tailgating hosts)  decided to have a hot dog bar!  Jeremy made a spinach dip that was to die for!  AND Beth and Jeremy made homemade ice cream!!  The food was fabulous. It made for a long day especially with standing a lot, sitting in the upper deck, and walking 2 miles to our car.  But it was totally worth it! I loved catching up with old friends and seeing the Tide play!

What was not fabulous was the Penn St. fans. I had heard to much hype about how "classy" they are.  Well, I'm here to tell you that that assessment is poop!  We saw 5 Penn St. fans roll up in a U-HAUL to tailgate. Next thing we know, they have unloaded 50 cases of beer and 30 cases of liquor. At first, I was concerned thinking these 5 fellows were going to consume all that alcohol by themselves on a hot Alabama day.  But no, within a hour or two close to 75 Penn St. fans are stabbing beer cans and pouring them in each other's mouths, throwing girls in their "baby pool of beer and ice", hitting on Bama girls by yelling out..red dress, red dress -- until they turned around, dancing in the rain, and drinking liquor straight from the bottle. Real classy, Penn State, real classy.  They also decided to dump all their trash on the ground...I guess when they made their beer run they forgot trash bags. Oh, and worst of all...they posted Penn State posters on our campus buildings....WHAT???  They also had a cow bell that they used for some chanting purposes.

This is how Penn St. has a tailgate!

Can't believe they put signs on our buildings!

Trashy people!

They were fun to watch. I felt that I was at a frat party, mixed with a rave and a tailgate.  When it started to rain, things got real entertaining...for they began to dance in the rain and roll in the mud.   OK...so now we are at Woodstock???

Bama Fans staring at the Penn St. tailgate

I will give them this...even though their team got whooped up on (yes, a 24-3 victory) they did stay in the stands until the very end of the game. This is more than I can say for the Bama fans. If the situation had been reversed...we would have been gone half way through the 3rd quarter.
3 coaching legends!

Roll Tide!
Also, several Penn State girls stayed back after the game to bag up all the trash that the tailgate/Woodstock party had made. They said they didn't want Penn St. to be remembered that way. I told them "I think it is a little too late for that" as I continued to take pictures of the aftermath.

The trash they had to clean up!
Overall, we had soo much fun!  And my wish came true!  I was able to eat Wings Cheese Fries!! Yummy!  My wonderful husband also drove me home b/c I was beat. I slept the whole way home!
We love Bama!!
