The series continued last Sunday with BotheRED. Matthew 6:25-34
BotheRED was about worry. We need to take the journey from worry to faith. We worry about everything from kids to money, jobs to sports teams.
When we worry, we are seeking control. We are not called to control others or situations. We need to let go of our expectations and outcomes.
Are you closed palmed towards God -- wanting to control everything? Or are you open palmed towards God -- allowing him to work in your life?
Stop focusing on worry and instead focus on your goals: To know God and to serve others.
God allows us to go through trials and tribulations so that we can trust him and see a different side of him. The Lord never promises he will take away our troubles (except in heaven) instead he promises to take away our fears.
Move from egocentric -- self-centered to theocentric -- God-centered
My job is to seek first his kingdom and his righteousness. He promises to provide for me what he thinks is good, not what I think I need.
Food for thought: Why would Jesus allow John the Baptist to be beheaded? Why did he allow bad things to happen to his disciples? Did he have the ability to stop it? Sure! So why didn't he? Because he knows what is best!
How do we rid ourselves of anxiety? We renew our mind! Thoughts lead to anxiety. Renew your mind -- minute by minute, hour by hour, daily! I need to see myself as Christ sees me, not as the world sees me!
