On Friday night, our book club got together to discuss
The Help. It is an excellent book, but I must say I am bias because the author went to the University of Alabama. Kathryn Stockett wrote about a woman who has aspirations of being a writer; however mother just wants her to settle down and get married. The main character, Miss Skeeter, begins to see the division and love between whites and blacks in Mississippi during the 1960's. She decides to write about what she sees in her own backyard, but this could prove dangerous considering the racial climate of the time. Our book club loved the book! We had a riveting discussion about living in the South and ways in which we see racism today. The movie is currently being filmed, and I hope that it does the book justice! All in all, we had a late night...but it was worth it!
Stephanie cooked a wonderful Mexican dinner! I especially liked her decorations for Halloween...which included a cobweb serving dish! She also made some fabulous pumpkin cookies! Stephanie really got me in the mood for fall! Thanks Steph!
